Star Struck is a spectacular annual performing arts event presented by the NSW Department of Education, celebrating the talent and creativity of students from across Newcastle, the Hunter, and Central Coast regions.
Each year, thousands of public school students from Kindergarten to Year 12 take to the stage in an electrifying showcase of dance, drama, and music, representing a diverse network of NSW public schools, from tiny rural primaries to bustling city high schools.
Whether performing in combined dance, drama, or choir ensembles, or shining as featured vocalists, instrumentalists, or soloists, students experience the thrill of live performance in a professional setting. Many also take part behind the scenes, contributing their skills to stage management, choreography, props design, and production teams.
Star Struck isn’t just a show, it’s a launchpad. Students gain hands-on experience in the creative and performing arts, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and work alongside industry professionals while working toward a nationally accredited qualification in Events.
Now entering its 34th year, Star Struck has become one of the largest and most anticipated performance events in the region, enjoying widespread support from local businesses, media partners, and the broader community.
